From April there will be talks about which team will be the Yamaha customer team from the upcoming MotoGP season: Race director Lin Jarvis gives insights
After Herve Poncharal's Tech 3 team was the Yamaha customer team in MotoGP for years, they took over Razlan Razali's Petronas team in the 2019 season and established itself as a top team within a very short time. But the Petronas Yamaha era could end after just three years. It is currently open which team will make up Yamaha's customer team from the MotoGP season 2022.
"We have a three-year agreement with the Petronas team. This agreement expires at the end of the year," confirms Yamaha race director Lin Jarvis. MotoGP is in a state of upheaval when it comes to customer teams. The MotoGP plan is to have one factory and one customer team per manufacturer.

"We're definitely talking about Petronas and VR46, if they get on board. We have a longstanding relationship with VR46 - both with the company and with Valentino," notes Lin Jarvis and adds: "So far nothing has been negotiated. It we haven't had any talks yet.
