The rider of a blue Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle has died after hitting a van early Thursday morning.

Troopers said the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on US-17 while a white van was stopped at the stop sign on N Boundary Road.

The van was trying to cross over the northbound lanes of US-17 to get to the southbound lanes when the motorcycle crashed into the van, the Florida Highway Patrol report states.

The motorcyclist, a 44-year-old Crescent City man, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken to Putnam County Medical Center where he died.

The driver of the van was not hurt.
