Volkswagen CEO Matthias Müller to Resign Volkswagen CEO Matthias Müller to Resign Volkswagen AG CEO Matthias Müller, who in his 31 months in the job has slashed budgets and worked to salvage the German automaker’s reputation following the diesel-emissions scandal, is expected to resign as early as this Friday. Now we know a little more about that plan, as Zellmer told Automo. Zellmer : Porsche building 500 fast - chargers in U . S . originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 16 Apr 2018 11:39:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Porsche 's U . S . boss Klaus Zellmer tells Automotive News the company will build a network of 500 fast chargers by the end of 2019 to support the Mission E.

When we talked with folks at Porsche about introducing the Mission E here in the U.S., they acknowledged that charging infrastructure was a challenge the company must face head-on. "We have to work on our charging infrastructure [across] the nation, so that range anxiety — despite the fact that we have a bigger range than 300 miles — is not a barrier," Porsche Cars North America President and CEO Klaus Zellmer told us. Now we know a little more about that plan, as Zellmer told Automotive News that Porsche will build at least 500 fast chargers around the U.S. by the end of 2019.

Wireless Electric Car Charging Is Coming—And It Could Help Stabilize the Power Grid

Wireless Electric Car Charging Is Coming—And It Could Help Stabilize the Power Grid Easy wireless power transfer could reduce anxiety on the part of consumers and utilities alike. As electric vehicles spread across the land—analysts expect them to comprise 50 percent of new car sales by 2040—the next great challenge will be upgrading the charging infrastructure to support them. It’s a complex process, demanding a system that’s ubiquitous and fast at the charging station so drivers won’t have to panic about where their next hit of electricity will come from, but also won’t strain the electric grid altogether.

Porsche hints at charging infrastructure plans for the U . S . – at least 500 DC fast chargers are to be installed by the end of 2019. Klaus Zellmer , CEO of Porsche Cars North America said I guess what I am trying to get to is that I hope all the different Automakers are not building their own networks.

Porsche is planning a Supercharger-like network of fast - charging stations at dealerships and highway locations across the US. There will be at least 500 by the end of 2019 according to Klaus Zellmer , CEO of Porsche Cars Porsche will not pay to have the chargers installed at its U . S .-based dealerships.

The chargers will be located along highways and at Porsche dealerships. The automaker's 189 U.S. dealers will be asked to install at least one charger at each location, along with a battery to act as a buffer, storing energy from the grid for periods of high traffic. It's a bit of an ask, Zellmer admits. "It's not a minor cost," he told Automotive News. "It certainly is six-digit numbers that our dealers will have to take."

The chargers, though, will help alleviate range anxiety for owners who want to travel greater distances with their electric Porsches. The 800-volt chargers could recharge a Mission E to 80 percent capacity — or about 250 miles worth of driving range — in less than 20 minutes. With such quick charging times, having the chargers conveniently located will help break down the psychological barrier that keeps people from buying an EV, even if they would rarely surpass the car's 300-mile driving range.

Six New Cars Come to Forza 7, Also a Honda Odyssey For that sweet simulated minivan racing action.Perhaps the weirdest car out of the seven confirmed for Forza's April car pack is a bone stock, unmodified 2018 Honda Odyssey. That's right, totally stock-no 1000-horsepower Bizimoto stuff or Honda factory racing shenanigans going on here. There's also a 2017 Maserati Levante S.

The 800-volt fast chargers will help alleviate any range anxiety that potential buyers of Porsche EVs may feel, Zellmer said. Official Porsche 911 Carrera Build Diary, Pack 2 - Продолжительность: 12:42 ModelSpace UK 3 355 просмотров.

Porsche Cars North America CEO Klaus Zellmer has revealed today that the company is going to set up at least 500 fast charging stations for electric cars in the United States by the It will be left up to independent dealerships to decide if they want to charge Porsche owners for use of the fast chargers .

While dealers would have the option to offer customers free charging, most drivers would likely have to pay for a fill-up. Zellmer said possibilities include buying a package or membership card that includes charging.

Porsche is in talks with ChargePoint, EVgo and Electrify America about building the other 300-plus chargers it plans for non-dealership locations by the end of next year.

Porsche plans to begin sales of its all-electric Mission E sedan in 2019. That will be followed in 2020 by an EV based on the Mission E Cross Turismo concept, a lifted wagon that debuted at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The Transforming Porsche Brand .
Having rapidly transitioned from sports cars to big cars, can Porsche repeat the trick? It can take decades or longer to establish that most elusive of things in the automobile business, a desirable brand, and it's no mean feat when it works. And no mean feats were the Porsche 356 and 911, which did most of the heavy lifting over the second half of the 20th century to cement the brand in the world's popular imagination as the focused maker of efficient, quality sports cars. (Admittedly, they had help along the way from the less iconic but still worthy 914, 924/944/968, and 928.
