Probably because the KP45 Starlet was only ever available in Japan, and Orly's car didn't sport the iconic TOM'S touring car livery yet. BMW through the voice of its CEO for Australia, Marc Werner, has made the promise the reborn Z4 will live up to the firm’s “ultimate driving machine” ethos.

Someone spent $117,000 on this spaghetti BMW i3 According to the "artist," it's not art.As crazy as spending $117,000 on a base i3 with funky vinyl is, it isn't as crazy as the semantics behind this car. You see, we first saw this BMW last year, and it was created by Maurizio Cattelan. He was an artist, but he retired, so isn't one anymore. And apparently this BMW was not art, because Cattelan said so. Because an artist who stopped being an artist said his "art" car was not art, it also was not part of BMW's long-running series of Art Cars.

BMW has admitted it's toying around with the idea of giving the new Z 4 roadster the M Performance treatment. The Z 4 , which is set to be “ completely unique ” compared to the platform-sharing Toyota Supra , will break cover at a major auto show this year.

Spotted recently with most of the final bits, the 2018 BMW Z4 was previewed in August by a namesake concept providing a ”very close hint, of what the production car will look like next year.” Those were the exact words used by BMW global design chief, Adrian van Hooydonk.  It should be just about the same story with the interior as the concept had a familiar dashboard with the usual switchgear.

In regards to the oily bits, the rear-wheel-drive BMW roadster fitted with a soft top will allegedly start off with the base Z4 s20i version with a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine delivering 180 horsepower. A beefier s30i equipped with the same engine is said to have somewhere in the region of 250 hp, while the flagship M40i will get a straight-six unit from the 340i dialed to about 320 hp. An optional Competition Package should up the power ante by 40 hp. With the exception of the entry-level model fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox, the others are expected to receive an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Don’t hold your breath for a full-blown Z4 M as a BMW spokesperson told Automobile Magazine back in August it won’t happen. Why? It would require too many hardware changes and would likely end up being too expensive by getting dangerously close to the six-figure mark.
