The GT2 category was introduced by Stephane Ratel for gentlemen drivers. It has more power than GT3 cars, but less aero. It is also a "Plan B" for Ratel, should the GT3 category run into problems or abandon its current model due to GT convergences or modification regulations as in the DTM. Unlike the GT3, the FIA is not involved.
"The modifications that we have to make to reduce the downforce are not particularly large," says Sanna. "This is because the downforce of the Super Trofeo is far from a GT3. We also have narrower tires. The entire philosophy of the vehicle is not far from the GT2-Audi, which in my opinion is the reference vehicle. It would be ready very quickly . "
