Audi begins participating in our least favorite automotive trend
Subscription-based features kind of suck, but now, Audi rolled out its first pay-to-play functions in Germany. This past Thursday, Audi revealed it began rolling out "functions on demand" as it named the service. The language may differ, but the idea is the same: pay for various features if and as you want them. For example, Audi said its two electric cars , the E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback support LED headlight upgrades owners can purchase at any time. Instead of standard LED headlights, owners can purchase a subscription to the company's Matrix LED headlights with automatic high beams.
The Audi duo Haase and Hofer won the first race in the ADAC GT Masters at the Lausitzring. Another Audi duo is expanding the overall lead.
Double cheers at Audi after the first ADAC GT Masters race at the Lausitzring.
The Audi duo Christopher Haase and Max Hofer surprisingly won ahead of the Mercedes pairing Indy Dontje and Maximilian Götz, who were only a tenth behind at the finish.
"I was under extreme pressure from Maxi Götz, he was clearly faster. But the Audi ran great and I'm now looking forward to tomorrow," said Haase after the race at SPORT1 .
Electric Vehicles are Too Damn Expensive
The average Josephine on the street can’t afford to step into most electric vehicles on sale in the U.S. today, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has admitted. “Our cars are not affordable enough,” Musk said during his second-quarter earnings call in July. “We need to fix that.” Electric cars and crossovers remain far too expensive to be daily commuters for the middle- and working-classes, who in congested urban areas, at least, may be turning to e-bikes instead, an electric segment in which U.S. sales spiked 92-percent in April and 137-percent in May, according to Bicycle Retailer and Industry News.
Both teams have no chance in the race for the championship.
The final podium in the turbulent race with three safety car phases went to Porsche. Robert Renauer and Klaus Bachler, who started from pole position, had to be satisfied with third place in the end.defending champions build advantage
For Audi there was not only victory to celebrate, because the defending champions Kelvin van der Linde and Patric Niederhauser were also able to fight their way up from 14th on the grid to fifth.
The duo, which was the first team in GT Masters history to be able to defend its title, increased its minimal lead over Michael Ammermüller and Christian Engelhart, who finished sixth, to two points.
Bitter was the race for the third hot title contenders Maro Engel and Luca Stolz, who just before the start of the race six points behind van der Linde / Niederhauser.
After Stolz was hit on the side and his Mercedes turned, he had to park his car. A major setback in the championship fight, although three races are still open.
The second race in the ADAC GT Masters at the Lausitzring will take place on Sunday (). The final will take place in Oschersleben next weekend.
