Amy Vosinthavong, 29, from Sydney said she has 'never been a traditional person', and so wanted to incorporate some of her alternative personality into her nuptials.

Thankfully, the 29-year-old said her groom Andrew, 31, let her take the reins with their 'goth and punk-infused' wedding.

The results were a stunning day that looks like no other.

According to bride Amy, her non-traditional personality meant she was never going to have a regular wedding.

'I have always the loved the alternate scene, specifically the goth/punk scene,' Amy told FEMAIL.

'Andrew isn't quite a traditionalist either, but he was happy for me to take the reins with the decor and theme of the wedding.'

Amy said she swiftly decided that because a wedding is supposed to be 'your day' as a couple, she didn't want to 'cater to what others' views of a normal wedding is'.

'I definitely wouldn't have felt as on top of the world as I did had I been in a traditional white gown,' she said.

'I am also covered in tattoos and white was never for me.'

But it wasn't just Amy's dress that didn't conform to typical bridal stereotypes.

In fact, much of she and Andrew's wedding was unusual, including the soundtrack they had at the ceremony (which included Death Cab for Cutie, Sum 41, the Foo Fighters, Johnny Swimm and Stemm), and the way they conducted the wedding.

'When Andrew and I were officially announced as husband and wife at the reception, we head-banged out way out in true A&A style,' she said.

Elsewhere, Amy said her bridesmaids had their own choice of dress (as long as it was in the gray color realm), while their theme was 'gothic'.

'The reception was full of blacks and red and orange-glow candles,' Amy said.

Bold flower arrangements with red, white and burgundy roses complemented the moody theme, while also keeping things romantic.

'Our black with red florals cake was also made by my sister-in-law, who made it so unique to us it was breathtaking,' she said.

A wedding photographer slammed guests who ruin photos with their phones: 'Let me do my job' Some wedding etiquette rules are well known, but one photographer wishes that guests would start following another rule: Put your phone away. Hannah Mbalenhle Stanley of Hannah Way Photography shared a photo she took of a bride walking down the aisle that would have been perfect if not for someone holding their phone in the way of the shot. In a Facebook post, she urged wedding guests to "let me do my job" and enjoy the ceremony instead of taking photos that they won't use, ruining hers in the process. Her open letter has since been shared 59,000 times.

'Everyone was so shocked,' she said.

'Especially the elder members of the family. They just couldn't understand why we'd done it.'

But Amy's mother was keen to defend her daughter by saying 'that's my Amy', and the 29-year-old said in fact many of the guests loved the alternative theme.

The couple, witnessed by 280 guests, tied the knot at Historic Eschol Park House followed by an evening reception held at Villa Capri in Sydney, Australia.

Finally, Amy shared her advice for other brides.

'My biggest advice would be to narrow down and pick exactly what you want to be different,' she said.

'For me, it was the dress, music, decor and invitations. Then everything will slide into place.'

While Amy said having a different theme can be 'overwhelming' as there is 'almost too much freedom in choice', she also said that by focusing on the bits that are important to you, you will figure out the elements which you want to 'pop'.

'I wouldn't have done my day any differently,' she said.
