Snickers wasn’t successful in changing the date of Halloween, but it’s still delivering on its promise to give away free candy.

Go to OneMillionSnickers.com to sign up for a gift card good for one bag of Snickers Fun Size bars worth $3.90, available through Oct. 31 or while supplies last. Giveaway times will vary.

Snickers supported the Halloween & Costume Association’s Change.org petition to move Halloween to the last Saturday of October by pledging 1 million free fun size bars if the federal government officially declared a Saturday Halloween.

Snickers made a special pecan bar for fall -- but it's already sold out

Snickers made a special pecan bar for fall -- but it's already sold out Snickers debuted a Snickers Pecan Bar Wednesday, conjuring up all sorts of chocolate pecan pie vibes. You feel them, too? This version was available only online, but by Wednesday night it had already sold out.Chances of buying any more sounded slim. A message on the website said customers could enter their email address to be notified "if we restock."The bars were being sold as a 15-pack for $30. They're set to begin shipping September 30.

The petition, also backed by Party City, has more than 150,000 signatures but after the movement faced some opposition it evolved into an additional day of celebration – National Trick or Treat Day.

“We promised a million SNICKERS, and regardless of the date, we’re going to deliver,” said Josh Olken, the candy's brand director, in a news release. “Whether fans enjoy their free SNICKERS themselves or hand them out to trick-or-treaters, we want everyone to have a satisfying Halloween.”

According to the promotion's terms, more than 55,500 gift cards will be given out at various times. A message saying "we need to refill our bowl" will be displayed when supplies run out for the day.

There's a limit of one gift card per working cellphone number.

According to a poll from Monmouth University, more than 36% of Americans say Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are their favorite Halloween treat. Snickers came in second at 18%.
