A woman in the UK claims she found a chicken foot in one of the McDonald's chicken nuggets she was going to give to her daughter.

In a video on her YouTube channel, Laura-Jane Popsey said she went through the McDonald's drive-through with her daughter, Lily, a few weeks ago and ordered her chicken nuggets. When Popsey split one of them in half, she said she could "see this thing pop out" that looked like an "alien."

Upon further inspection, Popsey said she believes it was a chicken foot inside the nugget. She threw all of the nuggets away but kept the part of the nugget that had the object in it and took video footage of it at the time. Popsey said in her YouTube video that she fibbed and told her daughter that the nuggets had "gone off" so she didn't scare her, but she later told The Sun that her daughter was "traumatized."

"I literally felt physically sick," she said in the video.

Popsey kept half of the nugget in a bag in her car and pulled it out a week later to show during the video. After some time had passed, the object looked a bit different than it did in initial clips and she theorized that it could actually be an artery, blood vessel, or skin tissue.

The Sun reported that she she called the restaurant right away but was told she had to return to the chain in person. At the time of filming the video, Popsey said she hadn't gone in person to complain yet. She included an update on what she said happened at McDonald's in the description of her video.

In The Sun's piece, they wrote that a "McDonald's staff member offered her free food to help resolve her complaint."

A spokesperson from McDonald's told the outlet that it could have been a "blood vessel, which naturally occurs in chicken breast." McDonald's did not initially respond to Delish's request for comment.

"Food safety is our highest priority and both our restaurants and our suppliers place great emphasis on quality control and follow rigorous standards in order to avoid imperfections in our products," McDonald's said in a statement.
