Four Secrets of the Trevi Fountain

Four Secrets of the Trevi Fountain Rome, Italy is undeniably a city steeped in history, with one foot in its ancient past and the other in the modern day. From the Colosseum to the Forum, the glory of the height of the Roman Empire can still be felt. Yet, more recent landmarks draw an equal number of onlookers in a city filled with tourists. The Trevi Fountain, which was built in the 1700s, is perhaps one of Rome’s most iconic structures. Built on the site of an ancient Roman water source, it is made of the same material (travertine stone) as the Colosseum. It has appeared in films like Fellini’s La Dolce Vita.

Please Do Not Take Medical Advice From Goop

Please Do Not Take Medical Advice From Goop Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle website, Goop, has some kinda neat fashion and decor tips. But when it comes to health and wellness, it sometimes goes off the deep end.  Most recently, Goop advocated adding iodine supplements to your wellness regimen, which could actually interfere with thyroid function and be dangerous for some people. The post was further misguided because it emphasized iodine deficiency, which is very rare in the United States and developed countries (presumably Goop’s readership, yes?). After all, iodine is added to table salt and part of our standard diets.

Fast food , old friend, you are difficult to maintain a relationship with. Between your exorbitant calorie count and your deceptively high sugar levels, you’re not Except when that list comes from Gwyneth Paltrow and the team at Goop , Paltrow’s lifestyle website that recently published a nutritional guide

Even though we aren’t really supposed to love fast food chains…we wholeheartedly DO (sorry, not sorry). And it’s our lucky day, because Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop published a guide to eating fast food, including handy menu hacks and suggestions for chains that lean more on the healthy side!

You know, like you can order steamed veggies from Panda Express, or organic vegan chickpea puffs from Starbucks (true story). Then there are the various salads from Wendys, Chipotle, and Subway, and the guide suggests asking for oil and vinegar as a dressing — instead of the standard sugary ones. Did we mention this was handy?

So you’re probably wondering if McDonalds is on the list…it IS — in the “Tricky, but doable” section. Lol.

Though there’s no mention of juicy Big Macs or Quarter Pounders. What they do mention sounds kinda good though: “A lettuce-wrapped grilled chicken burger, topped with the pico guacamole dressing, no cheese.” They suggest “a side of apple slices” to round it out.

Gwyneth doesn’t even call anyone a fattie or tell anyone to simply NOT eat anything, both of which No, Goop . I go to fast food restaurants for junk food and get my salad from a bag, like a normal person!! I horrified a physician colleague when I told him that I would be celebrating our finishing a

Now here’s the other pressing matter: Dunkin’ Donuts IS on the list, though of course…Goop suggests not ordering donuts. Instead: “Oatmeal, plus an egg white patty omelet, with diced red and green bell pepper, mushrooms, and green onions, topped with white cheddar, and served on a toasted multigrain flatbread.” Again, sounds pretty good.

While it might be hard to pass up biscuits from KFC, a Sundae from Arby’s, and fries from McDonalds, and even more crazy-sounding to request no cheese on a Dominos pizza, this list is helpful for those times when we’re trying to choose the healthiest options possible…while everyone else in our friend group is demanding a fast food run.

And of course, sometimes you just gotta treat yo’self.

Thanks, Goop. You’ve given us lots of food for thought. You can read the whole guide here.
