Anyone who is a frontline worker is eligible for a free tall brewed or iced coffee from now until Dec. 31, the company announced on Tuesday. The offer is valid at U.S. company-operated locations, as well as select licensed stores.

Among those who can take advantage of the special promotion are: doctors and nurses; dentists and dental hygienists; pharmacists; hospital staff, including housekeeping, janitors, and security; mental and public health workers; active-duty military; police officers; and firefighters, paramedics, and dispatchers. "Our hope with this is to reignite the movement of gratitude and to show those on the front line how much they are appreciated," Virginia Tenpenny, vice president of global social impact at Starbucks, said in an interview with USA Today.

This is the second time during the pandemic that Starbucks is showing its appreciation for essential workers. Between March and end of May, the company reportedly handed out more than 2 million free cups of coffee. It was one of the first companies to offer up such a promotion.

"Hopefully, other brands will join us in thinking about how they can use their platform to again show support," Tenpenny said. "Little deposits in morale can really go a long way, just so that they feel the support from our community."
