Diaries that Alan Rickman — who was once sworn to secrecy by "Harry Potter" author JK Rowling — wrote by hand during a period of over 25 years of his life will be published as a book by Canongate and edited by Alan Taylor, as reported by the Guardian. Some of the revelations from the book include Rickman's thoughts about working on the "Harry Potter" films, which has gotten the attention of fans of the series (via Entertainment Weekly).

Rickman's widow, Rima Horton, released a statement when the book was first announced, saying, "I'm delighted that Canongate will be publishing Alan's diaries, and couldn't have wished for a finer appointment of editor than Alan Taylor. The book's publisher, Canongate, reports that the collection, now titled "Madly, Deeply: The Alan Rickman Diaries," will be released on October 4, 2022.
