Bassett told the Times that she uses a “cleanser, hyaluronic serum, light cream, and Dr. Sturm eye cream” on a typical day. “I always put on coconut oil—skin is the biggest organ!” she added.

She stay in shape with TRX training

Bassett has been doing TRX training with Rob Thompson of Get Fit By Rob for a while now. “We start with low cardio — maybe run half a mile, then lift barbells while stepping up onto a bench and do a few machines,” she told the Times.

“I do a lot of cardio as well as strength building, and squeeze in meditation when I can,” Bassett also told Prevention.com in an interview earlier this year. “When possible, I love to work out with my friends when I’m not on the road or filming.”

And she comes to play at the gym

Bassett works out at least twice a week with a trainer and she’s dedicated. “I will show up, ’cause I don’t want to waste my money. So I gotta be accountable and know somebody’s there waiting for me, because I know myself, and I will talk myself out of going,” she said. “I go in the morning because my workout quotient will diminish as the day goes on. Maybe Monday, Tuesday, I’ll do cardio; Wednesday, Thursday, because I’m eating protein, I’ll do strength building; and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, when I’m eating all that fat, then it’s about deep breathing, a massage, yoga.”

It' s no news that Angela Bassett has a beauty of ages. While it might be true that black don't crack, the "Waiting to Exhale" star admits to having a little cosmetic procedure to maintain a youthful look . However, Angela is huge on sticking to a skincare routine that works for her complexion.

She has a dietary formula that works for her

In 2018, Bassett got super specific about her diet in a video from her Mission: Impossible Fallout press tour that went viral. “Monday, Tuesday, I may eat carbs, fruit; Tuesday, Wednesday, protein, veggies—veggies every day—no fats those four days, and then the last three days, I flood it with fat,” she said. “Good fat, though: maybe coconut oil, salmon, almonds, almond butter, you know, olive oil, that sort of thing.”

But dairy is not on the menu

“I don’t do any dairy, all right?” Bassett said during her press tour. “I don’t do any bread flour. I’ll do Ezekiel bread, which is sprouted.”

Lean proteins and veggies, however, are top choices

Bassett’s trainer has given her food goals that she plugs into her MyFitnessPal app, she told the Times. “I bring chicken and steamed broccoli or asparagus with me to the set — good lean protein, vegetables and salad,” she said. “I just found this P28 [High] Protein Bread and I add tuna fish with yogurt, Dijon mustard, a little paprika and pepper, a couple olives and red bell pepper. It’s protein with protein. So you’ve got a sandwich without feeling guilty!”

She never skips her annual check-up

“I lost my mother to heart disease as a result of type 2 diabetes and only learned of the connection years later,” Bassett told Prevention.com. That’s why she sees her doctor every year for an annual checkup, and if something doesn’t feel right, she speaks up not only for herself, but for those around her. “I have always been committed to practicing health and wellness, and now that I know and understand the link between type 2 diabetes and heart disease, as well as my family’s history, it empowers me to maintain control of my health.”

“For me, losing my mother was a wake-up call to start talking about the risk of heart disease with my family members who also have type 2 diabetes, like my uncle Ralph,” she added.

Mental health is a priority

Beauty to Bassett is “real joy and peace from the inside,” she told the Times. “I think that’s what’s meant by aging gracefully. The wonder of life. The goodness of others,” she said.

“People who have a level head, a ready smile and are open to expression and creativity, things that are positive. I think that’s where it starts, as opposed to being obsessed with that which ultimately fades and diminishes.”
