The fact that the chair has tracks rather than wheels makes rougher terrain much more accessible. The program is run by volunteer group Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, which wants everyone to be able to experience the park's natural beauty. The group says the program is the first of its kind at a national park.

A Texas woman claims she was denied a pedicure at a salon after an employee told her she was too big to sit in the spa chair.

Tina Lewis told Houston station KTRK that when she went to Rose Nails salon for a pedicure with her mother on Thursday, she was told the spa chair could not support her weight.

"I was like, 'Can I get a pedicure? And what chair do I sit in?' And [the employee] was like, the chairs were not big enough for me to sit in," Lewis told KTRK. "And I was like, 'Are you serious?'"

A Texas woman said a nail salon employee told her she was too heavy for a pedicure . The employee said she was afraid Lewis would break the chair . “I get my nails and my toes done every two weeks Lewis claims she was denied a pedicure at the Rose Nails salon because of her weight.

Marie Bui, who works for Rose Nails, told the station she was not trying to be offensive. "I said, 'I'm sorry I cannot serve you because my spa chair is very small,'" Bui said.

She said she believes another chair in the salon broke because a previous customer was too heavy for it. "After that, the spa chair and the machine broke underneath," Bui said.

So now, the salon has instituted a weight restriction, she added.

But Lewis is frustrated there are no signs indicating that, she said, and claims it's just an excuse.

She said she would not go back to the salon in question.

Hers is not the first instance of this happening. Last September, a South Carolina nail salon was forced to apologize after denying a woman a pedicure because she weighed over 250 pounds.
