"I try to keep my workouts and diet as simple as possible.” Along with changing his diet, Helwig also changed the focus of his workouts. He’d been working on getting bigger and stronger for the rugby field, but back in the US, he wasn’t playing anymore. “I realized that I could be a bit more vain and focus solely on looking better,” he says. He settled in for a slow burn, careful not to overdo the cardio. “I've always preferred a classic gym workout, five-day splits with focus on specific body parts,” he says.
A grandmother shed 55 lbs. after her daughter taught her to use an iPhone to help her lose weight - and she's now medication-free and swamped with compliments for her ripped physique.
Fitness fanatic retiree Joan MacDonald, 73, from Ontario, Canada, struggled with her weight throughout her life, despite being relatively active, and could barely walk up the stairs after having knee replacement surgery.
After using food as a way to escape a difficult time in her marriage, her weight peaked at 198 lbs.
Joan was also on various medications to help with her health, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and acid reflux.

“I remember being obese and feeling helpless, and I don’t want others to feel the way I felt."
These health problems, along with her progressive arthritis, were a cause of concern for Joan's daughter, Michelle, 48, who told her to join her annual transformation program. And in January 2017, Joan began working out at the gym four times a week and completely turned her diet around.

With the help of her daughter and son-in-law who coached her, Joan's weight reduced to a healthy 141 lbs and in just a year.
"I struggled with my weight and for many decades I was more often overweight than at a healthy weight," Joan said. 'I was on medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and acid reflux. My arthritis was acting up pretty bad."
"My daughter was becoming concerned about my health and asked me to join her annual transformation program. Well, she pretty much told me to join it, to be honest." Joan admitted she was pretty "overwhelmed" at first as it was all online, and she had to get an iPhone and learn all about apps.
A Few Tweaks to His Diet Helped This Guy Get Ripped in His Forties
“People that I had known for years literally didn’t recognize me. "
"My daughter and son-in-law would coach me through again and again, how to use my phone. You could say it took a village," Joan said. "To be honest, I think what really helped me was that this time I was okay to go slowly, and just take my time."
"I had lost a lot of weight before, many times in fact; I had tried Weight Watchers and Counterweight to great success, but the weight always came back," she said.

I'm the leanest I’ve ever been.” “The support and guidance from the First in Nutrition family was instrumental in my transformation,” he says, “because it was one-part learning resource and another part support group.” Since he’s changed his diet, his blood pressure has gone down, along with his resting heart rate; he sleeps better and feels revitalized. Most importantly, he says, “I have energy to play with my son and enjoy being active with the family.
Her daughter Michelle set up an Instagram account for Joan where she posted regular updates on her fitness journey, which attracted dozens of compliments including from younger men impressed by her physique.
Joan is no longer on any medications as her health has vastly improved since she lost the weight and she is able to hip thrust over 198 lbs., which is equivalent to her previous weight.
"This fitness journey will undoubtedly improve my quality of life as I move deeper into old age. I'm very grateful for that," she said. "I feel much better about myself now and getting compliments from younger men and women sure boosts the self-esteem."
Joan has also overhauled her diet; before she would eat two slices of toast with jam and coffee for breakfast, a sandwich and fruit salad for lunch, meat and vegetables and dessert for dinner and she would snack on sweets, chocolates or nuts.

Lose weight without diet: what is the Zermati method?
Lose weight without diet, achieve a balanced weight, freeing our brain of food controls: this is the goal of Dr. Zermati. Zoom on this method to lose weight without deprivation.
The Zermati method, is for all those who wish to lose weight, without a restrictive, private diet. There are three essential axes in this method: pleasure, attention and security. What is the Zermati method?
As Dr. Zermati points out, this is not an, but "a restoration of normal eating behavior".
So we are not in the food rebalancing either, since there is already control.
Based on the observation that the diets, whatever they are, are in control, and allow to lose weight, but that one takes again once one stops, Dr Zermati wishes to act on the sensations of the body, and not on foods that are found on our plate or not.
For Dr. Zermati, one must be in the pleasure dimension, and one must not be in privation, for him, it is not justified on the dietary level. He explains that you can for example get fat by eating vegetables and lose weight by eating pizza. So we must get out of this food scheme, give a roadmap to those who wish to lose weight sustainably.
This method, therefore, is to remove the mental control that we have on our weight, or food, and replace it with a control of food sensations.
For Dr. Zermati, it is necessary to dissociate the problems of weight (quantity ofActing on the brain ... , and choice of the foods), and the problems of health (question of related to the quantity of food).
Ourwould not be able to provide permanent and effective control, and it does not know how to handle these streams of calories. This work can lead to mental exhaustion, and therefore loss of control.
The solution would be to accompany the body, which is able to give orders in some ways to our body. By the notions of feeling of hunger, satiation in particular. The body is able to do this effectively, without wear.
One can act on the psychological factors, in order to accelerate or delay the feeling of satiation, by taking into account the notions of, of concentration, by being attentive to our own sensations. The idea is to wear attention on yourself, not on the food.
Exercises on satiation his necessary. Satiation triggers the cessation of consumption of a food, or the end of a meal, which unconsciously puts us in a state of disinterest for food.
By releasing the brain, the mental space, and letting the body do its work (like when one is a child and eating without calculating, appropriately).... To reach his balance weight
Withdraw this mind control through different exercises, including the messages of hunger, satiety and satiation that our body sends, will allow to wait for our balance weight.
Equilibrium weight is the weight the person maintains when they respect their feelings of hunger and satiety. Each one has its own weight of balance, which depends on several factors: genetic inheritance, environment ...
The advantage also, is that one can reach a state of security , and consume all kinds of food, without be afraid to get fat.
Some efforts of concentration are necessary at the beginning, but these efforts of attention will gradually become automatisms, and the body will integrate the reflexes. This will maintain a balanced weight, without control
