California lawmakers advance measure allowing medical marijuana on K-12 campuses California's state legislature has advanced a bill that would allow some parents to give their kids medical marijuana at K-12 schools.The California Assembly on Monday passed the bill that would enable school boards to decide whether parents can give their kids medical marijuana in nonsmoking form on campus, according to The Associated Press.Currently, medical marijuana is not allowed on campus, so children who use it to treat seizures have to take it off campus, the wire service reported. The AP noted that people who support the bill argue this requirement is dangerous and burdensome, while opponents are concerned about permitting the substance on campus.

A South Carolina man says he went to McDonald ’ s for a sweet tea , and he got more than he asked for. Brown said he now believes that the fast-food restaurant workers thought “extra lemon” was a street name for marijuana . He said he found three bags of weed in his cup after drinking the beverage.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — A South Carolina man who went to McDonald’s for a sweet tea says he received a little extra herbal substance on the side.

The Island Packet reports Parrish Brown went to a McDonald’s on Hilton Head Island and asked for a sweet tea with light ice and extra lemon.

Brown now believes ‘‘extra lemon’’ was code for marijuana, since he found three bags of marijuana in his cup. He says he only realized it once he was ‘‘high as a kite.’’

Brown says he’d never had marijuana, so he didn’t recognize the taste. He says he paid regular price for the items.

Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Maj. Bob Bromage says an investigation is ongoing. 

A representative for McDonald’s said the company is ‘‘fully cooperating with law enforcement on the validity of this claim.’’
