IKEA Launches 24-Hour Global Festival Celebrating Life at Home The first ever IKEA Festival will take place virtually on Thursday 16th September. On Thursday 16th September, the inaugural virtual IKEA Festival will offer customers the chance to tune into musical performances, cooking demonstrations, home makeovers, and a host of celebrity house tours from the comfort of their sofa.

Given IKEA's knack for space-saving and space-making furniture, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the Sweden-based brand is both furnishing and renting out a tiny apartment in Japan. Design Boom reports that the petite apartment is located in the Shinjuku district and will be available for only 99 yen per month. That converts to less than one U.S. dollar per month ($0.86)!

Just how small is the tiny apartment? The rental measures in at just 10-square-meters (107-square-foot). Among the multi-functional IKEA pieces featured in the apartment are an IVAR storage system and a one seater soft that converts into a bed.

We see ourselves as editors.

"One of the keys is to make good use of the vertical space. By capturing the room three-dimensionally, new possibilities open up in a limited space," a description on the IKEA website reads.

The apartment is available to rent for IKEA family members only, and will be available until January 15, 2023. Those interested in the apartment have until December 3 to apply online.
