Florida State made the quick decision to fire Willie Taggart after losing to Miami Saturday. Now the Seminoles want to make another quick decision when it comes to the man replacing him.

FSU Director of Athletics David Coburn is looking to have a new coach in place by the end of the 2019 season at the latest. The Seminoles' final game is on Nov. 30 at Florida.

"We wanted to go ahead and get started with a search," Coburn said. "See if we could get somebody in here ready to go as quickly as possible."

Coburn and the FSU administration wanted to get out in front of the other programs around the country that will be looking for coaches this off-season.

One of the main reasons that FSU wants to make this hire quickly is because of the early signing period for recruiting.

Recruits are entering their third year of being able to sign letters of intent in December, and that has accelerated the timeline for programs that are looking to bring in new coaches.

Getting a coach in place by the end of the season will allow the new coach time to build relationships with recruits rather than having to do it in a week.

Dad's Touching Post Explains How to Support Your Wife After She Has a Baby

Dad's Touching Post Explains How to Support Your Wife After She Has a Baby Ted Gonder recently shared some advice on how to be a good husband and support your wife when she becomes a mom. His tips have gone viral on Facebook.I'm now 29 and have 3 kids with my wife Franziska who carried and birthed them all like a pro.

"There are going to be a lot of schools out there looking for coaches. There are every year once the season ends," he continued. "Our feeling was that if we could get positioned and be ready to hit the ground running it would be a significant advantage."

FSU's leadership looked at the pluses and minuses to keeping Taggart, but the results on the field spoke too loudly for the administration to ignore.

And if the Seminoles were going to do it after the season, why wouldn't they do it now and get that head start?

"Frankly, 6-6 isn't good enough and we didn't see any advantage to waiting until the end," Coburn said.

Taggart's buyout at FSU is around $18 million, Coburn confirmed.

If FSU ends the contract with every member of its assistant coaching staff, the total buyout for the assistants will be just under $4 million.

That leaves the total buyout for FSU at between $21 to 22 million.

Coburn told the Democrat that there isn't a set salary that FSU will offer its new coach and the assistants that come with him. It will depend on a number of financials, including the overall buyout that FSU has to spend on Taggart and his staff.

"I expect there will be some combination of people leaving and people staying," Coburn said.

"But again, that’s trying to read tea leaves. It’ll be up to the new head coach."

FSU will hire a search committee to recommend the next head coach for the Seminoles, but FSU is already looking without one.

Former Oklahoma coach and current Dallas Renegades coach and general manager Bob Stoops is the primary target for FSU, according to multiple sources.

Coburn, FSU President John Thrasher, FSU Board of Trustees Chair Ed Burr, and members of Seminole Boosters, Inc. will also play a role in deciding the next head coach.

Coburn had only one expectation when it comes to what FSU is looking for in the next person that it tabs to run the football program.

"We’re looking for somebody that can win National Championships," Coburn said.

"I don’t have an explicit set of criteria other than that, and I’m going to look at every option I can find. But we’re going to win, we’re going to get back to the standard of Florida State University football. That’s what’s going to happen."
