Fashion Week’s Coolest Street Style Stars Are Behind-the-Scenes

Fashion Week’s Coolest Street Style Stars Are Behind-the-Scenes With their clipboards and earpieces, these fashionable PRs are the most underrated street style stars.Attendees tend to go to the shows dressed to impress in their finest designer goods. The VIP guests always jumpstart some new trend or breakout piece, like that 2019 season when everyone wore the Bottega heels. Yet, behind the scenes, fashion publicists—as in, the clipboard and earpiece-clad professionals who organize and run the shows—are just as chic (though they often eschew the spotlight).

New York Fashion Week is officially back. The shows will be smaller and we’ll be wearing masks, but the week looks just as busy as ever. With Collina Strada showing at Brooklyn Grange farm, Monse at the Pier 62 skatepark, and Chromat at the People’s Beach, show-goers will be traversing multiple boroughs and spending lots of time outdoors this season—don’t forget your SPF!

The week is filled with European names and New York comebacks, from Moschino to Thom Browne and Rodarte, and some days are so busy, Vogue Runway is preparing to publish a few dozen collections in the space of a few hours. On Saturday, the excitement will pause for the 20th anniversary of September 11th; Vogue editors and our Condé Nast colleagues will be at our World Trade Center offices for the day of remembrance.

From High Gloss Lips to ’70s Waves, Fendi’s Spring 2022 Show Delivered Disco Glamour Kicking off Milan Fashion Week spring/summer 2022 with his first live show for Fendi, Kim Jones took us back in time to the epicenter of cool: Studio 54, where models sauntered down the runway in kaleidoscopic fur coats, shimmering fringe dresses and other signature ’70s silhouettes. In other words, it’s time to party. The brief to longtime collaborators Peter Philips and Guido Palau was this: how would you dress this girl up and make her feel like a million dollars? Made in the U.S.A.: A Glimpse Behind the Curtain at ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ .
The new two-part exhibition on American fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art does more than tell us what we wore: It reveals who we are.“In America,” the museum’s two-part exploration of all things made in the U.S.A., is a yearlong celebration spanning three centuries of fashion. The first part, which includes pieces from such American standard-bearers as Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, and Calvin Klein alongside the current vanguard of millennial talent, opens on September 18, with part two opening on May 5, 2022.
