A terminal at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey was partially evacuated Friday morning after a transformer underneath the facility caught fire.

According to CBS New York, the manhole fire forced airport officials to evacuate Terminal C-1 wing around 11 a.m. local time and firefighters were quickly on the scene to get the blaze under control. FlightAware.com reported 51 flight cancellations and 89 delays as of 2:30 p.m. ET, but it was unclear how many were caused by the fire.

While no injuries were reported, Public Service Enterprise Group was forced to temporarily cut power to the terminal and use backup generators as the company repairs any damage caused by the fire.

Passengers who were waiting in the terminal at the time of the fire and subsequent evacuation were forced to go through security again, causing long lines at screening areas and baggage pickup carousels.

Travelers scheduled to fly out of Newark Friday are being advised to call ahead and check the status of individual flights.
