Introducing the New(ish) Sweetener That We're Adding to Everything

Introducing the New(ish) Sweetener That We're Adding to Everything If you've been in the healthy game for a while, you know that it feels like Christmas morning when you find a sweet snack that fits with your lifestyle. But when we heard about Lakanto monk fruit sweetener being a healthy sugar alternative (possibly even better than Stevia), we just had to learn more about it. Lakanto sweetener is (keto) diet-friendly, even though it comes from a fruit, which is typically a no-no. Even Starbucks is jumping on the trend.

For the 23rd edition of the Hot List —our picks of the year's top hotel openings—these 75 outstanding winners represent not just the vanguard of the world, but where travelers are headed next.

The 121 clubs on the 2018 Hot List are a record number, a reflection not on the difficulty of being unique in an industry awash in sameness and parity, but instead a celebration that clubs from all kinds of manufacturers large and small are finding ways to help golfers improve.

The term hot is not something we throw around lightly at Condé Nast Traveler. Every year, we vet hundreds of new hotels that swing open their doors promising all sorts of industry catnip: raw-silk Italian sheets, customized Ayurvedic dining, views of some blindingly cerulean bay that no human has ever woken up to before. Most of these openings are good. Many of them, great. But only a fraction are what we’d deem hot. To determine this, we’ve cultivated an army of the most discerning hotel sleuths—Traveler staff as well as a network of trusted contributors across six continents that we call on year-round—to make sure that nary a perfectly mixed lobby bar old-fashioned nor unfluffed swan-down pillow goes undocumented. We arm our scouts with a survey that’s been developed and refined over the past 22 years, with questions that get at the practical (Is the Wi-Fi signal strong enough to download a movie? What’s the must-order on the room service menu?) and the emotional, or even sociological (How does the hotel make you feel? Is there a lobby vibe? What celeb can you imagine hanging out at the pool?). We then cull close to a thousand pages of hotel dossiers to come up with our final list. This year, 102 properties, fewer than 25 percent of the hotels we CSI-ed, made the cut.

Airbus Has a Radical Idea: Beds in the Cargo Hold

Airbus Has a Radical Idea: Beds in the Cargo Hold Who needs first class when you can sleep in the hold? Now, rather than a lay-flat seat at the front of the plane, passengers may have the option to pick a bunk bed downstairs. Zodiac says the seats could be ready as early as 2020 for the Airbus A330 plane, a long-haul jet operated by airlines including Delta, Etihad, Qatar, and Turkish Airlines. A mock up from Airbus shows a pod hotel-like atmosphere, with two levels of bunks, fluffy white duvets, bookshelves, three-legged stools in seating areas, and both floor and ceiling ambient lighting.

For this year's Hot List —Traveler's definitive picks of the best hotels and cruises around the world—our editors and contributors scouted hundreds of properties across six continents. What follows are the top picks—those that define why we travel now and determine where we're going next.

A Pediatric Food Allergist Explains Nut Allergies in a Way That'll Make New Parents Sigh With Relief

A Pediatric Food Allergist Explains Nut Allergies in a Way That'll Make New Parents Sigh With Relief While some people could happily survive only on peanut butter, others can go straight into anaphylactic shock if the nuts are in the same room as them. So as parents, figuring out if your baby has nut allergies can be anxiety-inducing. We spoke with David Stukus, MD, pediatric allergist at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio, to help put parents' minds at ease when it comes to introducing peanut products to their kiddos."The vast majority of parents do not need to worry about anything prior to feeding their infant peanut products or any other allergenic foods for the first time," he told POPSUGAR.

United Airlines joins other carriers in peddling credit cards to passengers .
If you hate unsolicited sales pitches, your next flight on United Airlines might be a bit irksome. The Chicago-based airline is requiring its flight attendants beginning Sept. 1 to pitch passengers on every domestic and international flight to sign up for a co-branded credit card to boost revenue. In the past, flight attendants had the option of pitching the credit cards and were rewarded with financial incentives for every passenger who signed up. The sales pitches, however, are now required.
