Travel6 New Business Class Cabins We're Excited to Fly This Summer
Camp comfortably at these glamping spots this summer
Glamping, or glamour camping, is here to stay. Once considered a fad, it is now a mainstay in the travel industry with more destinations debuting every year. Experience the great outdoors and partake in local adventures without having to sacrifice comfort!
Peak summer travel season is in full swing, and although the airports might be full of crowds and the planes are packed with passengers, there's no reason to suffer through a cramped flight at the back of a tired old aircraft. Here are six of the best business class airline cabins, all brand-spanking-new, that you can book throughout the rest of the summer, so you can stretch out and de-stress, even on the busiest travel days.
All Nippon Airways A380 Flying Honu First Class Suites
ANA's much-anticipated A380 with its beloved "Flying Honu" sea turtle livery launched its service from Tokyo's Narita Airport to Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 25. As of June, the second of three "Honu" A380s also went into service on the route. The superjumbos feature 520 seats spread across two decks, but we are most interested in those in the nose of the upper deck: ANA's first-class suites. Each suite has a fully lie-flat seat complete with sliding doors that close for ultimate privacy, a 32-inch LCD in-flight entertainment screen, and even a personal closet for jackets. The first-class cabin has eight suites, all with direct aisle access, in a 1-2-1 configuration. As of the first of July, ANA increased the route's frequency so these suites are now flying 10 roundtrips between Tokyo and Honolulu per week.
Another Airline Ends 747 Service to the US
There’s one less airline flying to the United States with the Queen of the Skies. Starting December 4, Qantas will remove its Boeing 747 that operates the Sydney to San Francisco route and will replace it with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. This is currently the last 747 Qantas flies to the mainland US, after the …
Delta One Suites on the A330-900neo
With the launch of its brand new A330-900neo, Delta is giving travelers another opportunity to fly in one of the best cabins in the sky: Delta One Suites. This cabin is among the most coveted for frequent fliers for its fully lie-flat seat (complete with Westin Heavenly In-Flight Bedding), noise-canceling headphones, and an amenity kit full of Kiehl's products. And of course, these being suites, each of the 29 business class seats on the new A330 have doors that close completely. Delta's first A330-900neo flight launched on July 10 out of Seattle to Shanghai. It currently operates that route with one round trip per week. In October, you can find these Delta One Suites on additional flights out of Seattle to Seoul Incheon International Airport and Tokyo Narita International Airport.

EgyptAir 787-9 Dreamliner Business Class
EgyptAir is stepping up its front-of-the-plane game with its business-class product on its new 787-9 Dreamliners. The cabins will be fitted with 30 B/E Aerospace Super Diamond seats, which lie fully flat and have direct aisle access in a 1-2-1 layout. It's a move that will bring the airline's premiere class in line with the industry standard, as these are the same seats that American Airlines, Air Canada, and Virgin Australia use in some of their long-haul business-class cabins. US travelers can test out EgyptAir's version of the popular business-class seat on flights out of Washington, D.C.'s Dulles Airport, where the national flag carrier launched a thrice-weekly Cairo-bound route in June.
British Airways A350 Club World Suite
Like the ANA and Delta One suites, British Airways' new Club World Suite has all the bells and whistles of a state-of-the-art business class suite: a seat completely encapsulated by sliding doors, lie-flat beds, and direct aisle access. But BA's Club suite also features a vanity unit and mirror and 40 percent more storage than its previous business seats. The suites will debut later this summer, most likely in early August, on the airline's new A350-1000. The aircraft, which will feature ambient lighting that will mimic the outside light based on the time of day and higher humidity levels for passenger comfort, will first debut on a short route from London to Madrid, with longer-haul flights to Toronto and Dubai coming in October.

Turkish Airlines 787-9 Dreamliner Business Class
When Turkish Airlines debuts the first of its brand new 787-9 Dreamliners in the US this summer, the business-class seats will be the ones to book. The cabin will be fitted with 30 Stelia Aerospace seats, the same lie-flats that Singapore Airlines flies in its business class on regional hops, and are complete with Alcantara padding, a material used to fit the interiors of sports cars, Stelia says. Laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration, the seats in the center also feature a screen divider to be raised for privacy or lowered for travel companions. Earlier in July, the airline began flying its new Dreamliner on short domestic trips so its cabin crew can perfect its service before rolling out longer flights. U.S.-based travelers will have a chance to luxuriate in the new seat when Turkish launches its route from Washington, D.C.'s Dulles Airport to Istanbul on August 8, followed by a route from Atlanta on September 10.
Virgin Atlantic A350 Upper Class
Although you can't quite call Virgin Atlantic's Upper Class seats on its new A350-1000 a suite, they are sort of a "half-suite," with a partition that slides halfway closed for increased (but not total) privacy. The 44 seats, on the plane that will operate the London Heathrow to New York JFK route, convert to a flat bed a the touch of a button—no need to even stand up. In the cabin and at their seats, passengers will find Virgin's signature mood lighting creating a glowing and relaxing atmosphere. If you're expecting to see Virgin's usual standup bar on its forthcoming A350, think again. The carrier has replaced that space in its Upper Class with a lounge area called The Loft: a social area with couches, standing room and a 32-inch TV with bluetooth audio. Fliers can congregate here over snacks and drinks, but those interested in mingling should move quickly—the space only seats five with standing room for three. Beginning September 10, Virgin will operate six flights per week from Heathrow to New York JFK.
