Cleared for Takeoff: First class celebration in the Maldives and Singapore
In this week’s installment of Cleared for Takeoff, we’re helping another couple jet off to the Maldives — this time, with a twist. Reader Emily Murphy wants to celebrate various accomplishments with a trip to the Maldives and Singapore — here’s what she said: “My husband and I want to go to the Maldives (with …“My husband and I want to go to the Maldives (with possibly a stopover in Singapore or elsewhere for a few days) in Dec 2022/Jan 2023 as a post-masters degree/hopefully new job/wedding anniversary celebration. EWR is our main airport, but we could work with all NYC and PHL airports, as well as LAX depending on how close the trip falls to graduation.
With Hyatt introducing their newon Oct. 26, the clock is ticking to book award stays and lock in standard award pricing. This change will affect stays on or after March 1, 2022.
If the hotel you book goes up in price, your already booked reservation will stay intact. Plus, Hyatt will automatically refund you the difference if the price of your stay goes down due to off-peak pricing. So, it doesn’t hurt to book now if you’re considering a Hyatt stay in or after March 2022. In fact, we recommend taking action if you even have an educated guess at your plans.

5 reasons why Hyatt needs a cobranded business card
Every major hotel chain offers a business credit card except Hyatt. As a Hyatt enthusiast and elite-status holder myself, it’s time for that to change. When will @Hyatt and @Chase come out with a cobranded business card? Asking for several friends. — Juan G. Ruiz (@doubledutydaddy) August 19, 2021 Hyatt launched its first-ever cobranded credit …When will @Hyatt and @Chase come out with a cobranded business card? Asking for several friends.
Points transfer from both programs to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio, which means for every 1,000 points transferred, you’ll receive 1,000 World of Hyatt points. Transfers from both Chase and Bilt should process instantly, so you can wait to transfer your points until you find award availability.
Once you complete your transfer, you’ll be able to book your desired Hyatt hotel straight from your World of Hyatt account.
However, if you need to cancel your reservation at a future time, all points will go back into your World of Hyatt account — not your Chase or Bilt account. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer them back to your Chase account as transfers are only a one-way street.
Transfer points from another member’s account
If you have a friend or family member with a healthy World of Hyatt account balance, they can transfer points to your account for free.
How a simple game of bingo scored me a free night with Hyatt
There’s nothing better than waking up to an email with the subject line, “You Earned It — Enjoy a Night on Us.” No, this isn’t junk mail. It’s a legitimate email I got containing a free night award valid at any Category 1-4 World of Hyatt property. How could this be? I’m not currently a …No, this isn’t junk mail. There is no minimum or maximum number of points that can be transferred, but you can only transfer or receive points once every 30 days. From my experience, Hyatt is strict with this time period.
To combine points, Hyatt requires you toand email it to . In my experience, transfers were completed anywhere from the same day to two days later. Depending on when you’re reading this, you may have enough time to transfer points before the Oct. 26 cutoff. In other words, if you want to use this method, don’t wait.
Book a ‘Guest of Honor’ reservation
If you have a friend or family member who has Hyatt Globalist status, you can have them book a “” stay. This perk allows Globalist members to book an award stay for another person — even if the member themselves isn’t traveling — and share their elite-status benefits.
This will allow you to not only use someone else’s points, but to also receive, , and a (if available), and utilize a member’s .
Hyatt launches its first-ever business credit card with Chase — here are the details
Let’s put the rumors to bed: Hyatt is adding a second credit card to its portfolio — and it’s a business card. Since renewing their partnership in 2017, there have been persistent rumblings of a new Hyatt business card in the works, and now we know what that looks like.
The Globalist member can book their reservation as they normally would, but will then need to call the Hyatt Globalist line to add the guest to their reservation. However, even though points are being redeemed from the Globalist account, the member who is actually staying at the property will receive any points earned from incidentals and qualifying nights towardand .
If your friend or family member wants the points back in their account, you can follow the same process of transferring points back once you’ve replenished your points balance. And with the brand-new World of Hyatt Business Credit Card offer, earning points right now is easier than ever.
Book a points-advance reservation
Although an unpublished benefit, if you have Globalist status with the World of Hyatt program, you can sometimes book an award stay even if you don’t have enough points in your account. As long as you know you’ll have enough points by the time you are looking to travel, you can make a points-advance reservation.
5 of the best ways to use 75,000 World of Hyatt points
Earlier in October, Chase and Hyatt launched their first-ever cobranded business credit card together — the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. Now, small businesses have the opportunity to earn World of Hyatt points on purchases while also receiving valuable perks. But the real game-changer here is the enticing welcome offer. New World of Hyatt Business …New World of Hyatt Business Credit Card cardmembers can earn 75,000 points after spending $7,500 on purchases within the first three months from account opening. While this might sound like a lot of spend on paper, if your business generates just $2,500 a month in regular credit card spend, earning the bonus should be easily obtainable.
You need to contact Hyatt directly to book a points-advance reservation. This includes calling the Globalist number, reaching out to your My Hyatt Concierge or messaging Hyatt on Twitter. I find messaging them on Twitter to be one of the easiest ways to go about this.
To reduce the back and forth, make sure to give them all the information required upfront. This includes the hotel name, dates, room type, number of guests and your World of Hyatt account number and email address.
If there’s award space, the representative should be able to make the reservation for you without pulling any points out of your account. There’s no official limit to the number of points-advance reservations you can make, but you must have enough points to cover the entire stay seven days prior to check-in.
Note that if your account falls short, the reservation will change from an award stay to a paid stay. You also might find that some partner properties, such as those under theumbrella, will not accept points-advance award reservations.
If you are hoping to book an award stay at a Hyatt property and don’t have enough points in your account, there are still ways to lock in a reservation before the new award chart goes into effect.
As long as your stay is booked by Oct. 26, you won’t be charged more points if the property goes up in points during your specific dates due to them being peak dates. And remember, if the hotel ends up charging fewer points for those dates, you’ll automatically receive the difference in points back into your account.
