One of the world’s most lauded restaurants is coming to New York City this spring … at least, temporarily.

This May, noma, the Copenhagen, Denmark restaurant that currently holds the number one spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list again this year, will be making a brief appearance in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood. It marks the noma crew’s first time cooking in New York City since 2018.

Like a tasty morsel that melts in your mouth, this concept from the Michelin three-star restaurant will only be around for a short time – just five nights – serving diners a bespoke multi-course menu with wine parings.

How to get to Denmark with credit card points and airline miles

How to get to Denmark with credit card points and airline miles Denmark is a culturally rich destination with plenty of interesting things to see, eat and do. Whether you want to take in the unique architecture, a thriving art and design scene or the burgeoning culinary scene, you won’t be disappointed. The experience will be open exclusively to American Express cardholders enrolled in its Global Dining Access program with Resy, and tickets will go on sale April 27.

The experience

The home for this five-night event will be the 26 Bridge Street event space in DUMBO, which is a former metal factory, steps from the East River and near the Manhattan Bridge. According to this week’s announcement, the space will be altered to resemble noma’s home location in Copenhagen, including plenty of greenery and typically minimalist Scandinavian wooden tables and chairs in the dining room to create a sort of mod-hygge look.

Here we journey through the years to see the USA's great wildernesses as they were then. You'll be surprised by just how much has (and hasn't) changed.

Tickets will cost $700 per person, including the menu, wine pairings and service.

It’s a rare opportunity to experience a special menu from a restaurant that is a bucket list-type establishment for foodies and one that some gourmands plan their entire travel calendars around. The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, for instance, declared noma “one of the most coveted restaurants on the planet” as part of its most recent top ranking in 2021.

noma’s menus, curated by founder and chef René Redzepi, tend to rotate three times per year, depending on the season. A seafood-focused menu is usually available between January and June, with vegetable season in the summer months, and ‘game and forest’ fare in the winter.

While $700 for the Brooklyn experience is not cheap, neither is a regular dinner seating at the restaurant in Copenhagen. The current food menu is priced at DKK 2,900 ($421) per person, with another DKK 1,800 ($262) for wine pairings or DKK 1,000 ($145) for juice pairings (and we’re not talking Capri Sun pouches, here, but rather bold flavor combinations like quince-saffron or green gooseberry).

Adding to the allure of this event, Redzepi himself is expected to be on hand for the five New York dinners in May.

Who’s eligible

Tickets for the event will be available to American Express cardholders who are enrolled in the Global Dining Access program through Resy, the restaurant reservations platform Amex integrated into its customer-service interface last year after previously acquiring the online platform.

They go on sale April 27 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern at a dedicated Resy link, with space for just 50 diners each night, so get ready to book as soon as reservations go live.
