For a mega holiday display like this, it requires planning, precision, and patience—something Amy and Ben Hanson have demonstrated since they first started developing the Christmas light park in March 2017.

"I grew up originally in east Texas," Ben told The News Star. "There are several of them [Christmas light parks] around the Tyler area, and I took my two older kids back when they were little to the ones there. It's always been in the back of my mind that I would like to try it, and we kind of got in the position where we could."

The Worst US Airports for Holiday Travel: <p>Air travel can be very grueling, and it will probably only get worse as more regulations, <a href=such as the most recent TSA screening rule regarding food and electronics, are put in place. Just the ordeal of packing, getting to the airport on time, going through check-in, security, and then boarding is enough to tire a person out. All of that gets amplified, however, during the holiday season. The holidays are a time when many people are traveling to spend time and celebrate with family or friends and a lot of families with children are taking advantage of winter break. This means airports are that much more chaotic, that much more tiring to go through. Due to the volume of travelers, and sometimes weather conditions, delays and cancellations are far more frequent. At some airports, they almost feel guaranteed.

Finance technology company SmartAsset conducted an analysis in which they took a look at every airport with at least 4,000 domestic flights scheduled for December from 2012 to 2015. Each airport was ranked according to three factors: cancellation rate, delay rate, and the average time of those delays. Those rankings were then averaged, giving half weight to delay rates and full weight to both cancellation rates and average length of delays. The airports were then given a score out of 100, with higher rankings meaning they had longer delays and a higher percentage of cancellations and delays. We've compiled a list from that data to help you determine which airports to avoid this winter, as these US airports are the worst for holiday travel.

Preparing to unveil the brand-new Candy Cane Lane on Thanksgiving Day has been no small task for the couple, though. Lights still have to be strung to designate the route, a speaker system needs to be installed to blast Christmas music through the park, and themed decorations are still in the works. Needless to say, both Ben and Amy have a lot of work ahead of them to deliver their promised Winter Wonderland to anxious Southern merrymakers.

"Once we figured out we had the property and could make it happen, we actually went and bought lights between Christmas and New Year this past year," Ben said. "We spent a solid week buying from department stores, hardware stores, and home improvement stores."

The Annual Candy-By-State Map Has Plenty Of Surprises (Who's Eating All The Candy Corn?) Source: CandyStore.com. It’s that time of year again! Halloween is finally here and if you haven’t figured out what your costume will be, you still have time. For the ladies, if you want to go low budget, you can always go as a cat and for the fellas a construction worker is easy peasy. Costumes are simple, what you can’t skimp on is the candy. Whether you choose to dress up or not, one thing is for certain: Kids are going to be knocking on your door expecting some sweets. According to Candystore.com around $2.7 billion will be spent on Halloween candy this year alone, and The National Retail Federation notes that online sales of candy has increased by 15 percent since 2015. With that being said, you don’t want your hard earn cash going to waste; meaning if you are going to give out candy you might as well give out the most popular stuff. We did a quick tally of the 1st place candy in the US according to The Candy Store’s data and here are the top 3: Candy Corn — We don’t get it, but apparently a lot of people like it. A total of six states say it’s their number one candy. They purchase around 664, 936 pounds of the stuff. Sour Patch Kids — Totally makes sense. Other states agree. A total of five states purchased around 596,446 pounds of Sour Patch Kids. Reese’s Cups — Have you ever heated these in a microwave for 15 seconds? Heaven. Four states purchased around 414,165 pounds of this chocolate goodness.

a close up of a red wall © Candy Cane Lane/Facebook The couple has traveled from Dallas, Texas, to Jackson, Mississippi, to hunt down lights. According to Ben, they’ve spent more than $65,000. But Ben and Amy are sure the money and miles spent will be worth it in the long run. Hopefully, in the next few years, they want to turn the drive-through light park into an annual holiday tradition with bigger and brighter displays, jolly visits with Santa, and delicious treats from food vendors.

"We are hoping it will become a family tradition every year," said Ben. "Growing up, that's the way the one in Tyler was. It was a thing to go at least one, two, or twelve nights."

This year, visitors can expect to see more than one million Christmas lights wrapped around trees in the park. Not to mention, different zones throughout the Christmas park will feature light tunnels and varying themes that range from picturesque winter scenes plucked straight from a Hallmark movie to Mardi Gras-inspired decorations that reflect the lively spirit of Louisiana. A patriotic combination of red, white, and blue lights will frame the walls on Candy Cane Lane, and recognizable figures and cartoon characters will be there to greet you along the drive.
