Oscar “Demente” Duran, 27, a former East Boston resident who came to the United States from El Salvador, pleaded guilty in US District Court to charges of conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity, US Attorney Andrew E. Lelling’s office said in a statement.

As part of the plea, “Duran accepted responsibility for authorizing the murder of a 15-year-old [named Wilson Martinez] who was stabbed to death on Constitution Beach in East Boston on Sept. 7, 2015,” the release said.

Duran faces a maximum sentence of life in prison when he’s sentenced in June, officials said. He’ll also be subject to deportation when he completes his prison term. Duran is the 35th defendant in the case to be convicted and the sixth person to be held responsible for murder, according to prosecutors.
