A fisherman at the Ross Barnett Reservoir reported seeing something unusual on sonar Friday night near the Breakers Condominiums and reported it to Reservoir police, who confirmed the location using the department’s sonar equipment.

Divers found something Sunday, which appeared to be a vehicle in very poor condition, authorities said.

After the vehicle was pulled from the reservoir, an investigator with the National Insurance Crime Bureau helped identify it as a 1989 Mazda RX-7, which was reported stolen from Jackson in 1996.

Reservoir police posted a picture of the vehicle to Facebook with the title, "If you see something, say something."
