Last Man Standing Renewed at Fox

Last Man Standing Renewed at Fox Last Man Standing‘s first season on Fox won’t be its last: The Tim Allen comedy has been renewed for Season 8, TVLine has learned. The news comes ahead of Friday’s landmark 150th episode. The ABC castoff returned last September to 8 million total viewers and a 1.8 demo rating, improving greatly upon its previous premiere on ABC (6 mil/1.1) as well as its Season 6 average (6.9 mil/1.2). It currently stands as Friday’s No. 1 scripted series among A18-49, and second in total viewers (behind CBS’ Blue Bloods). “Hard to believe Last Man Standing hits 150 episodes this week and it gets better with another upcoming season at FOX!” Allen said in a statement.

A 33-year-old Georgia man who served eight months of a 10-year, 8-month sentence will not go to jail despite holding a teenage girl as a prisoner in his home for over a year.

Michael Wysolovski was arrested in June 2017 by FBI agents Gwinnett County police after a 17-year-old North Carolina girl who had been missing for more than a year was found in his home. According to the girl’s father, she was kept in a dog cage, which gave her back problems, had ringworm and was severely malnourished.

After being indicted for rape, aggravated sodomy, cruelty to children, false imprisonment and interstate interference with custody, he pleaded out on the first-degree cruelty to children and interstate interference with custody charges. After getting credit for the eight months he spent in a detention center before posting bond, Wysolovski will serve the rest of his sentence on probation and register as a sex offender.

Wysolovski lured the victim from an online anorexia forum.

According to prosecutor Micharl DeTardo, the jury might have questioned if the relationship between Wysolovski and the girl began as consensual, according to Georgia law. However, the family wanted to avoid a trial as well, so as to not retraumatize her.

Melissa Brannen’s abductor, Caleb Hughes, will be freed from prison after 29 years

Melissa Brannen’s abductor, Caleb Hughes, will be freed from prison after 29 years In 1991, Caleb Hughes was sentenced to 50 years for abduction with intent to defile. But Va. law allows prisoners 'good conduct' credit, and so Hughes must be released in August.

Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Timothy Hamil shot down Wysolovski’s defense that he was helping the girl and denied his request for first-offender status, which would have wiped the plea from his record if his sentence was completed.

“I can’t see even the most twisted definition of what you did as help … I don’t see any emotion from you. I don’t see any remorse from you,” Hamil said. “I am not moved to give you first offender status … In my time on the bench I can count on both hands the time I’ve refused to give someone first-offender status — but there’s something inside me that says this is one of those times.”
