A man killed Sunday night following a stabbing in the city’s Bayview district has been identified as a 42-year-old San Francisco resident, authorities said.

The San Francisco medical examiner’s office identified the man Tuesday morning as Bruno Niedzielski.

Niedzielski’s family declined to comment.

Officers responded at 7:47 p.m. Sunday to a report of a stabbing on the 1100 block of Gilman Avenue, said Adam Lobsinger, a San Francisco police spokesman.

Police arrested 41-year-old Salvador Chavez at the scene on suspicion of homicide and a probation violation, according to the San Francisco sheriff’s booking log.
