A convicted sex offender is on his way back to prison after he moved to a different county next to a high school without notifying authorities.

A release from the Macon County district attorney said 38-year-old Adrian Montez Austin, who was previously convicted of indecent liberties with a child, maintaining a social network as a sex offender and violating sex offender residence laws, was convicted Tuesday of failing to register as a sexual offender and attaining habitual felon status.

Registered Sex Offender Arrested After Multiple Women Attacked On Rialto Walking Trail

Registered Sex Offender Arrested After Multiple Women Attacked On Rialto Walking Trail A registered sex offender has been arrested for a series of violent attacks against women on the Pacific Electric Trail in Rialto. “He would hold them at knifepoint, demand their phone and then he would try to sexually assault them,” said Lt. Cameron Nelson of the Rialto Police Department. According to Nelson, even though the suspect, 33-year-old Christopher Dandeneau, a known sex offender, did sexually assault a woman, Rialto police chose not to notify the public. “We know once we go public with it, he’s probably gonna go underground. But we wanted to make sure we made the arrest,” explained Nelson.

Cherokee County Sheriff Derrick Palmer said deputies got a tip in 2018 that Austin had moved near Andrews High School. Palmer said investigators also discovered evidence Austin was selling drugs and had possibly involved teenage girls.

District Attorney Ashley Welch said Austin never registered with Macon County when he moved there.

Palmer said Austin’s home was within 300 feet of Andrews High.

Austin was sentenced Tuesday to five to seven years in prison.

At a sentencing Thursday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, Judge Patrick Dinkelacker also ordered Horton to spend six months at the River City Correctional Center.
