Suspect in Carnegie homicide in custody The man police said killed another man inside of an apartment in Carnegie and injured a woman in the process is in police custody, officials have confirmed. Richard Mickens, Jr., 58, faces charges of criminal homicide and other offenses. On Sunday morning, police found two people stabbed at an apartment complex of 5th Street. Luke Connolly, 51, had been stabbed and also, according to a witness account, had a garbage bag placed over his head at one point. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office listed strangulation as his cause of death. Police said Mickens also stabbed a woman and raped her. She survived her injuries and was able to tell police what had happened.

An 8-year-old girl who was kidnapped Saturday in Fort Worth as she walked with her mom has been found, police said early Sunday morning.

Fort Worth police said just before 2:30 a.m. that Salem Sabatka was found safe at a hotel in Forest Hill.

A 51-year-old man, Michael Webb, was charged with aggravated kidnapping in connection with the abduction. He was booked into the Fort Worth jail Sunday morning.

The mother jumped in the vehicle in an attempt to save her daughter, but the man pushed her from the vehicle and drove off, police said.

Police said two members of a local church were out searching for the suspect vehicle early Sunday morning. They called police when they spotted the car, a gray four-door sedan, at the Woodspring Suites hotel in the 4100 block of East California Parkway in Forest Hill.

Officers arrived at the scene, found out where the driver of the vehicle was staying in the hotel, and found Salem in a room there.

Calzada said Salem appeared to be in good condition, and she was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Officers at the scene on Sixth Avenue erupted in cheers when they heard on the radio that Salem was found safe, Calzada said.
