Man stabbed soon-to-be ex-wife’s lawyer during divorce deposition in Winter Park, police say
Authorities arrested a man they said stabbed a Winter Park attorney representing his wife in their divorce proceeding. Gordon James King is facing charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment and tampering with a victim. Authorities said they were called to the law office on West Fairbanks Avenue on May 1 for reports of a domestic disturbance. According to an arrest report, King grew angry with the victim during the proceeding because the victim attempted to call off the deposition of King's wife. The report said King called the victim derogatory names, before walking around a table and punching the attorney in the head and chest.
A Mansfield middle school student was stabbed by another student with a pair of scissors Monday afternoon.
The "altercation" happened during dismissal time at Rogene Worley Middle School, according to a statement from officials with the Mansfield Independent School District.
The student was transported to the hospital. School officials did not release the student's condition.
School officials said campus administration and the district police department are investigating the stabbing.
"Incidents of this nature are taken very seriously, and the appropriate consequences will be given to anyone and everyone involved in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct," officials said in a written statement.
