A 47-year-old Lawrence man has been arrested in connection with the death of the 13-year-old Amesbury girl who was dropped off at a Lawrence emergency room on Monday, authorities said.

Carlos Rivera is charged with two counts of distribution of Class B drugs to a minor, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, the Essex District Attorney’s Office said.

Investigators said Rivera allegedly brought Ricard to the hospital that day, accompanied by a girl under the age of 16. Both of the girls had been at Rivera’s apartment on Bellevue Street in Lawrence on Sunday and most of Monday, the district Attorney’s Office said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Tuesday performed an autopsy, but the district attorney said Saturday the cause and manner of death had yet to be determined. The death remains under investigation.
