Police: 5 injured, including sheriff's deputy, after cruiser-involved crash in Queensgate
Five people were taken to the hospital, including a Hamilton County sheriff's deputy, after a crash involving a cruiser in Queensgate Tuesday, officials said. The two-car crash took place around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Fifth and Linn streets. Cincinnati fire officials said the deputy's car overturned during the crash and caused an entrapment. Officials said three work release crew members and a sheriff's deputy were injured. Police said they all had to be cut out of the cruiser. The driver of the other car was also injured. No injuries appear to be life-threatening, officials said.
Both are accused of using their apartment on South Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood to distribute those drugs.
Spikes also faces charges for possessing a weapon as a previous offender, according to the indictment.
Montoya began working for the Denver Sheriff's Department in 2012 as a civilian, but became a sworn officer in 2016, according to Kelli Christensen, the director of communications at the Department of Public Safety.
She was placed on paid investigatory leave beginning on March 29 for not disclosing she had a relationship with Spikes, who is a known felon, Christensen said.
Following her arrest on May 29, Montoya was placed on unpaid leave, according to Christensen.
Spikes remains in custody. Montoya was granted bond and was released from custody Tuesday.
