Two people were killed Saturday night in a three-vehicle, head-on crash in Fremont Township along Fairfield Road, north of Route 60.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Lake County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched and determined a Ford E350 driven by a 51-year-old Round Lake Beach man had been traveling southbound on Fairfield Road, north of Route 60, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

The driver of the Ford crossed the median into the northbound lanes and his vehicle struck the driver’s side of a northbound Honda Odyssey, driven by a 42-year-old Hainesville man. The Ford then struck a northbound Kia Forte, driven by a 56-year-old Ingleside woman of Ingleside, head-on.

Mother of twin boys killed in crash booked into jail, facing felony DUI charges The mother of twin boys who were killed in a crash has been booked into the Pickens County Detention Center to face charges. Jennifer Lynn Knox was booked Monday night. 

The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. on Connellsville Street, near Brushwood Road. The second vehicle swerved in attempt to avoid Kemp, but the two vehicles crashed head - on , police said. Two people in the other car, Caitlyn and James Vlosich, both 24 years old from Brownsville, were airlifted

Two women died in a crash that closed a Hamilton Township road for more than three hours Friday, police said. Allison Salerno, 35, of Vineland, was traveling west on Bear’s Head Road at about 3:45 p.m., when she crossed the center lane for unknown reasons and side-swiped a 1998 BMW M3

The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene. A front-seat passenger in the Kia, a 64-year-old Round Lake Beach woman, was also pronounced dead.

The drivers of the Ford and Honda were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday for the two occupants of the Kia.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. Crash investigators will work to determine why the driver of the Ford crossed the median into the wrong lane of traffic
