According to the report, Haren put on rubber gloves, turned the man to face away from other deputies and inmates, pulled down the man's pants and underwear, and retrieved a bag of marijuana from the fold of his leg, near his genitals.

Haren told investigators he did not have authorization from the sheriff or the sheriff's designee to conduct the search.

The inmate said Haren had to touch his genitals to remove the marijuana. Haren denied touching the man's genitals.

The sheriff's office learned of the incident Nov. 21, and Haren was placed on paid administrative leave.

The investigation was turned over to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, and the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office charged Haren in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
