WATERFORD (WWJ) - A man who allegedly confessed to stealing purses and an SUV from two elderly women is facing several criminal charges.

Marqus Fitzgerald Young was arraigned Wednesday in 51st District Court on charges of robbery, larceny and unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle. Bond was set at $1 million.

Investigators say Young admitted to robbing two elderly women in Waterford Township earlier this month. The first incident happened June 3 in the parking lot of the Waterford Senior Center on Pontiac Lake Road. Police say Young followed a 76-year-old woman into the parking lot and grabbed her purse out of her hands as she exited her vehicle. He fled the scene in an older model white Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.

The Cleveland man accused of kidnapping three young women and sexually abusing them for a decade was ordered held Thursday on million bond as details emerged about what prosecutors called “a horrifying ordeal” in which the women were repeatedly beaten and assaulted.

A Clayton man accused of killing his infant child is being held on a $ 1 million bond following court proceedings last week, and investigators said the 19 to first-degree murder by Judge Don Burns in the Seventh Judicial District Court in Vidalia after the child died in a Baton Rouge Hospital, Hedrick said.

The second incident happened June 14 in the parking lot of Tenuta's Food Lane on Sashabaw Road. Police say Young followed an 81-year-old woman out of the store into the parking lot and grabbed her purse out of her hands before she could get into her SUV. When his vehicle became stuck on a curb as he tried to flee, police say Young went back to the victim's vehicle, got inside and fled south on Sashabaw Road.

Young was identified and arrested on June 16. During interviews, police say he confessed to both incidents.

Young remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail and is due back in court on July 2.

Man wanted for assaulting elderly employee at Aurora laundromat.
The Aurora Police Department (APD) is asking for the public's help in identifying a man accused of assaulting an elderly employee at a laundromat last month. Just before 9 p.m. on May 21, police said a man entered the Super Laundromat located at 12455 East Mississippi Avenue and assaulted an elderly woman who was working there alone. The suspect is described as Hispanic, 5'10" tall and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a blue shirt with an unknown logo, blue jeans and black shoes. Police said the suspect is facing a felony assault charge. It's unclear how severe the woman's injuries were.
