The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a homicide after a person was shot near the McDonald's at 31st Street and Van Brunt Boulevard.

That incident happened Monday around 1:30 p.m.

Police said the victim was located on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant with no signs of life.

Witnesses said a suspect fled the scene in a blue vehicle.

San Jose Police investigating murder of 84-year-old man.
San Jose police are investigating the death of an 84-year-old man as a homicide, after discovering the victim amid a burglary-in-progress call. Officers responded to a residence at the 3200 block of Montecito at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, where they noticed a vehicle leaving the area. Police attempted to stop the vehicle and then engaged in a brief pursuit before calling it off for safety reasons. The officers were unaware at the time of the victim inside the home, who was near death when they arrived, police said. The man, whose identity is pending next-of-kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene. There have been no arrests.
