While on the stand Tuesday, Aubrey Trail said the story he told to investigators and to his attorneys was a lie.

Shackled in handcuffs and with a visible scar on the right side of his neck, Trail appeared in court for the first time since he slashed at his throat June 24.

"You will be restrained for the balance of this trial. If you are disruptive you will be removed from the courtroom," judge Vicky Johnson said.

Later, against his attorney's advice, Trail took the stand, explaining his absence during the trial, according to KETV.

"I chose not to hear the prosecution because I agree with 85 percent of what they said," Trail said.

Prosecutors believe Trail and Bailey Boswell lured Sydney Loofe, 24, on a Tinder date in 2017, killed her and disposed of her dismembered body in fields in Clay County.

On the stand, Trail said the story he told investigators and his attorneys was a lie.

"It was only me Bailey and Sydney there the night Sydney died. I'll get into how it happened I guess, but no, there was two other girls there. There was no sexual fantasy. There was no $15,000 paid for a sexual fantasy," Trail added.

He said they knew Loofe months before, had a previous relationship and were trying to get her back into their group by offering to help her out financially.

Trail still maintains Loofe died accidentally during rough sex.

"Bailey and Loofe were having sex. I was strangling Loofe," Trail said.

When an attorney asked if it was consensual, Trail responded saying that it was.

Trail said he panicked and dismembered Loofe's body so he could remove it undetected.

Earlier, two employees of the Grand Weaver Hotel in Falls City testified they saw Loofe with Trail and Boswell in the late spring or summer of 2017.
