Johnson’s ex-girlfriend, Takeyra Collins, was shot to death in her home on East 63rd Street near Fleet Avenue. Collins was shot in the stomach and back, police said. He and another men ordered an employee to the ground at gunpoint before they stole 50 pairs of Victoria’s Secret leggings, 16 pairs of Adidas leggings, three fur coats and 10 Nike windbreakers from Urban Thrift Clothing Store on Clark Avenue near West 50th Street, court records say.

The robbers stole $200 and the employee’s car keys before they ordered him into a back bathroom, court records say. They then drove off in the employee’s car.

Johnson has several felony and misdemeanor convictions on his record, including a 2014 domestic violence conviction for attacking Collins as she held their then-1-year-old son.

Johnson became enraged when Collins told him to leave, and the two argued. Collins was holding her son when Johnson punched her in the head, knocking her back on her bed. She bounced up off the bed and Johnson again punched her in the head, police reports say.

Armond Jr. began crying and his father “mugged” their son in the face and left, police reports say.

Johnson never showed up for court in that case. A protection order granted by then-Cleveland Municipal Judge Ed Wade barred him from going near Collins.

The incident was the first of two times Collins had contact with the Cuyahoga County’s Department of Children and Family Services. The second contact happened June 17, less than a month before she was killed.

County officials said DCFS received a referral that Collins was a victim of domestic violence. They referred her and her children to domestic violence services, officials said.

Collins was also the victim of another attack at the hands of a different boyfriend, police reports say.

In October 2018, Collins reported the man forced her to withdraw $50 from a downtown Cleveland bank, then attacked her by scratching her back and biting her. He also smashed her phone to the ground, according to police reports.

She was also the victim of a violent carjacking in August 2018, police reports say.

Johnson spent five years in prison after being convicted in three separate cases. He was released from prison March 19, the day before the Urban Thrift robbery.

He robbed a woman at gunpoint March 10, 2014 on Noble Road in East Cleveland, then shot at her and a man as he ran off. Four days later, he shot a man in the back at a Popeye’s chicken restaurant on Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland.

Johnson also pleaded guilty to breaking into a woman’s home Oct. 2, 2012 and stealing video games, a laptop computer, cash and a television.

His criminal history also includes two convictions for selling marijuana near schools, and juvenile court convictions for armed robbery, rape and felonious assault, court records say.
