A 9-year-old boy was asleep inside his home when he was hit by a stray bullet in the California neighborhood.

Police said there was a drive-by shooting Wednesday just before midnight at a home on Saunders Court.

A bullet flew into a window and hit the boy while he was sleeping, police said.

The boy was rushed to Norton Children's Hospital and is expected to be OK.

This incident was one of two suspected drive-bys in the area that night.

Shortly before the boy was hurt, a drive-by occurred on W. Oak Street. A man and a woman were both hit, police said.

Those victims are also expected to survive.

Tazwell Drive is less than a quarter of a mile away from Chancey Elementary School. When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. About 15 minutes later, another man called police and said that he was somewhere on I-264 and had been shot in the leg. He went to the hospital on his own and is expected to survive.

BRIDGETON, N.J. — A 9 - year - old girl was killed by a stray bullet that flew into her home in New Jersey on Tuesday, police in Bridgeton said. Prosecutors say the 19- year - old Bridgeton man fired a handgun at a group of people but missed them. The shots were fired about a block away from Trejo's home , and a stray bullet went through the home 's rear wall and struck her. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.

Police did not say if those shootings are believed to be connected.

No arrests have been made.
