Deputies in Polk County warn of police impersonator Polk County, NC (FOX Carolina) - Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office want the public to be aware of someone impersonating a police officer. According to deputies, the sheriff's office received a call of someone impersonating an officer around 11:20 p.m. on Thursday night. Deputies say the suspect is a male with a mustache, wearing a black t-shirt, and jeans driving a light color SUV(possibly a white Toyota with tinted windows) and used blue lights to stop a vehicle along Highway 176 in Saluda. Deputies say the vehicle may have also been traveling on Highway 74 around 7:30 p.m. west into Polk County.

A 28-year-old is accused of shooting his mother in Greenville County, according to Lt. Ryan Flood, with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

The woman was found about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the front yard of the family's home on Edgemont Avenue, Flood said.

She had at least one gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to deputies.

Flood said the shooting happened during an argument. The woman is in critical condition, Flood said.

Her son, Michael Lee Sammons, was arrested Thursday morning in Anderson, Flood said.

Sammons is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in Greenville County.

Coroner: One dead after troopers try to pull over vehicle on I-85 in Greenville Co. One person was killed in a crash that happened after South Carolina State Highway Patrol attempted a traffic stop. Kent Eric Washington, the driver in the incident, faces charges in the crash, according to Greenville County Sheriff spokesman Lt. Ryan Flood. He's currently at Greenville Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Flood said. The trooper began the traffic stop on Interstate 85 northbound near Augusta Road around 9:30 p.m. Monday, Greenville County deputies said. Washington refused to stop, according to the Greenville County coroner. Washington tried to get on the Augusta Road exit, but missed the ramp, the coroner said.

Anderson Police charged Sammons with possession of Methamphetamine, Captain Mike Aikens said.
