Police arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a 3-year-old girl Saturday morning in Milwaukee, officers said.

The shooting happened near 42nd and Townsend streets just before 9 a.m.

The girl was taken to Children's Hospital, but she did not survive.

Family members told WISN 12 News the child's name is Brooklyn Harris.

"She just turned three on the first," Harris' grandmother said. "They didn't give that baby a chance to live. She just turned three."

Woman accidentally shoots husband in the head in road rage incident, police say Erica Cole was arrested for attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment.

Police said the girl's mom, along with other children ages 1, 2 and 4 years old, were in the car when it was shot at.

They were not hurt.

"If our community has gotten to the point where we can get angry over a traffic accident, and we start shooting at kids in a car, and we have a 3-year-old dead. Every one of you should be as angry and upset about this as I am," Milwaukee police Assistant Chief Ray Banks said.

Officers received tips from the public and found a car near 26th and Walnut streets that they believed was involved.

Officers saw a man running from that car and later took him into custody.

That person's identity has not been released.

Police are still investigating the incident.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office will review the case this week.

Authorities said they believe she and her husband were "complete innocent victims" and caught in the middle of gunfire.

Police: Man arrested for impersonating officer in road rage incident.
A Lochearn man was arrested for impersonating a police officer in Catonsville, Tuesday evening. According to officials, Gregory Sumter, 57, of the 7300 block of Kathydale Road was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carrying a loaded handgun in a vehicle and impersonating a police officer. Officials said after police were called to the 6200 block of Baltimore National Pike for a weapons incident around 7:20 p.m. The initial incident started out as a road rage incident in a Walmart parking lot, but escalated when Sumter produced a badge and gun, identifying himself as a police officer.
