Baltimore police say repeat violent offender is wanted for attempted murder Baltimore police said a repeat violent offender, who has managed to elude capture, is wanted for attempted murder. According to officials, on July 2 just before 11 p.m., a 33-year-old woman was shot in the back of her head, inside her home in the 1000 block of Walker Avenue. After shooting the victim, the suspect grabbed a knife and attempted to stab her in her torso, officials said. Officials said the victim was able to escape from the suspect and get help, and identified the suspect as Devin Segar, 26, of the 2700 block of Edison Highway. Police said a warrant has been issued for Segar's arrest, charging him with first-degree attempted murder.

Baton Rouge police announced an arrest Tuesday in the murder of 75-year-old civil rights activist Sadie Roberts-Joseph, four days after she was found dead in the trunk of a car.

Police Chief Murphy Paul identified Ron Bell as a suspect in the homicide; a motive is not known at this time.

Bell has been charged with first-degree murder.

Roberts-Joseph is known as a beloved activist who founded the Odell S. Williams Now & Then Museum of African American History. An autopsy revealed on Monday that the cause of her death was traumatic asphyxia, WAFB reported.
