LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two attorneys engaged in a physical altercation at the Hall of Justice in downtown Louisville Wednesday morning.

Lieutenant Colonel Carl Yates, spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, said shortly after 8 a.m. attorney James “J.R.” Moore was working on a case in the third-floor work room near courtroom 302. Attorney Lindsey Scott entered the work room and, for reasons unknown at this time, an altercation between the two men developed.

When a deputy sheriff arrived to break up the fight, Moore was found to have suffered two to three lacerations on his head, caused by an aerosol can. Moore was treated by EMS on the scene and was eventually taken to Jewish Hospital.

Lt. Col. Yates said around the same time Moore was transported Scott began complaining of chest pains and was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where he remains.

No charges have been filed and the incident remains under investigation.
