Coroner: One dead after troopers try to pull over vehicle on I-85 in Greenville Co. One person was killed in a crash that happened after South Carolina State Highway Patrol attempted a traffic stop. Kent Eric Washington, the driver in the incident, faces charges in the crash, according to Greenville County Sheriff spokesman Lt. Ryan Flood. He's currently at Greenville Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Flood said. The trooper began the traffic stop on Interstate 85 northbound near Augusta Road around 9:30 p.m. Monday, Greenville County deputies said. Washington refused to stop, according to the Greenville County coroner. Washington tried to get on the Augusta Road exit, but missed the ramp, the coroner said.

An Anderson County deputy was dragged a short distance by a vehicle Tuesday when the driver crashed while fleeing a traffic stop, deputies said.

Deputies attempted to conduct the traffic stop around Michelin Boulevard in Anderson.

The driver failed to stop and a chase started, deputies said.

Deputies were able to deflate two tires and the chase ended.

While still attempting to flee with two flattened tires, the driver hit an Anderson County patrol vehicle and one of the deputies was dragged a short distance.

Three people were taken into custody, deputies said.

The deputy has minimal injuries.
