Teen who killed, beheaded classmate gets 2 life sentences A Lawrence teenager found guilty of killing and beheading a high school classmate was sentenced to two life sentences Tuesday. Mathew Borges, 18, was found guilty of first-degree murder with "deliberate premeditation with extreme atrocity and cruelty" in the 2016 death of Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino, 16. "We’re living dead after he was brutally ripped from our side,” Lee Paulino’s mother told the judge during victim impact statements. First-degree murder in Massachusetts carries an automatic sentence of life in prison. Since Borges was a juvenile at the time of the murder, the judge is allowed discretion in when or if he will be eligible for parole.

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — The state and defense have rested their case in the capital murder trial of teen rapper Tay-K — also known as Taymor McIntyre — and the jury could be deliberating by Thursday afternoon.

Attorneys are currently in the courtroom going over potential charges against McIntyre other than capital murder.

After initially denying knowing anything about the crime, the teen rapper slowly began to admit some elements, including that his job that night was to find drugs in the house.

All along, the defense strategy has been to get the jury to decide McIntyre played a role in a deadly home invasion, but was a minor player compared to the others involved.

Jury deciding on whether Scott Nelson will get the death penalty

Jury deciding on whether Scott Nelson will get the death penalty A jury is deliberating the sentence of the man convicted of killing a Winter Park caretaker. In closing arguments during the penalty phase, the state said Scott Nelson, who was convicted of killing Jennifer Fulford last month, had a plan that was cold, calculated and premeditated. Nelson's defense argued that he had a number of individual circumstances that led up to the murder, including his abusive father. "(Circumstances like) his mentally ill mother, his physically abusive older brother, his decades of alcohol and drug abuse and finally his decades of confinement," attorney Chelsea Simmons said. The defense said Nelson's true intentions were not to kill Fulford.

After two days of testimony about teens plotting a robbery, and finding guns to go after drugs and money, mother of Ethan Walker — the 21-year-old who was killed in the 2016 robbery — took the witness stand.

She said he had recently moved into the Mansfield house where it happened and had no drugs and money, and that’s why he was killed with a single shot to the stomach.

Before that, a girl who was there that night, testified that McIntyre was joking after the crime, and that they had killed him for a small amount of money and a watch. Two days later, she said he and friends were hurriedly packing clothes, calling a “code red,” and preparing to get out of town.

Six other defendants have already reached deals, or been convicted in the case.

Tay-K faces life in prison if convicted on the charge of capital murder.
