KENT - First responders will continue to search today for a Connecticut man who disappeared while swimming in Lake Carmel on Saturday.

Kent police said the search is ongoing for the 54-year-old man, who was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The lake is closed until further notice while the search continues.

The man had told family that he was going swimming in the lake that day, but he did not make it home, police said. His car was found parked at the lake.

The search has included the Lake Carmel and Carmel fire departments, dive teams from the Mahopac Falls and Yorktown Heights fire departments, a Westchester County police helicopter crew, state police and Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

A US Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet jet crashed Wednesday near Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in California, according to US Naval Air Forces.
