Pasco County deputies say Steven Ambrosio contacted the victim May 11 about a Letgo ad. Deputies say the ad said the victim was offering to buy people's iPhones.

Deputies say the victim told Ambrosio he would buy an iPhone for $650. Ambrosio then asked the victim to meet him in front of Seven Springs Elementary School the next day, according to an arrest report.

The arrest report said when the two met, the victim asked Ambrosio to see the phone he asked to buy. Deputies say Ambrosio then moved his backpack from behind him to his front and removed an unknown object.

Deputies say Ambrosio then hit the victim on the left side of his face near his eye. The hit caused the victim to have a broken orbital eye socket and damaged the retina, causing partial blindness, according to the arrest report.

When the victim fell to the ground, deputies say Ambrosio reached into his pocket and took the victim's money before leaving the area. Deputies say the victim was able to drive back home and then to a hospital for surgery to fix the broken eye socket.

Deputies say the victim later identified Ambrosio from a photo pack on July 22.

Deputies also say Ambrosio committed a similar robbery two days after this incident. The arrest report said Ambrosio hit another victim on the back of the head with a hammer.

Ambrosio was charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery with serious injury.
