Man charged in Anderson funeral home burglary, stolen Cadillac An Anderson man was arrested after deputies say he broke into vehicles at Sosbee Mortuary and stole a Cadillac from the funeral home.

LISBON — Lisbon First Selectman Thomas Sparkman confirmed that a transport van that was stolen from the Lisbon Senior Center has been found in New London.

Connecticut State Police said a burglary took place overnight Monday into Tuesday at the center, and that the transport van and money were taken. The amount of money taken was not disclosed.

Sparkman said police received an anonymous call that the stolen van was parked on a street in New London. Police went to the scene and took it back to the State Police Montville barracks as evidence.

The van reportedly was in good shape with no significant damage and no theft of any equipment from the van.

It happened after 1 a.m. at N. 12th and W. Locust streets. Investigators said officers first started to chase a stolen vehicle in the area of N. 64th and W. Congress streets. Police said the car ran multiple stoplights and stop signs, nearly causing a collision on W. Capitol Avenue. At N. 12th and W. Locust, police said the stolen car ran a flashing red light and hit a vehicle going eastbound through a flashing yellow light. WISN 12 News arrived at the scene minutes after the crash and captured video of first responders performing CPR on one person.

A suspect has not been identified at this time.

Lisbon cemetery targeted by vandals.
A marble altar and half a dozen headstones were vandalized over the weekend at a cemetery on Frost Hill Avenue in Lisbon. Black and green spray paint was used to deface the headstones and altar with profanity and "rude pictures". Several headstones were also flipped over, and spotlights were broken, Lisbon Police Chief Marc Hagan said Tuesday. RELATED: Police seek information after new dugouts, playground equipment vandalized in Winterport Workers spent Tuesday repairing the damage, which was paid for by Holy Trinity Church, according to Hagan. The vandalism was reported at about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 11.
